HISTORY
Founded in 1976, Carndonagh Football Club has a proud tradition of providing football for the community down through the years at both junior and juvenile level for both men and women. Players have mostly been comprised from the Carndonagh and Malin Town areas, although while in the Ulster Senior League players were drawn from as far away as Muff, Derry and Buncrana. Most recently a French national has represented Carndonagh, Charles Fayet wearing the shirt in the 2008/09 season.
Much success has been enjoyed especially at juvenile level, picking up honours on a regular basis, continuing a proud history of success. The club has also been represented at International level, the latest addition being Ryan McLaughlin(HB) who is captain of the U19 Republic of Ireland Victory Shield Squad. Previous representatives include Gerry Doherty (O.), Liam Monaghle, Dessie Doherty and Kieran Lynn. Zoe Doherty has also represented the Republic of Ireland.

At junior level the club has enjoyed success in the Inishowen League and The Ulster Senior League. The club won the Ulster Senior League Cup in its inaugural season and most recently in Inishowen won the Top Four Cup in 2010/11. The club has also on two occasions reached the semi final stage of the FAI Junior Cup.

2011/12 has been a busy season for the club. The pitch was re-opened at St Patricks Park following a one year renovation. The occasion was marked by a visit from Belfast club Cliftonville FC. Carn competed well on the day against the semi-professional outfit who fielded a strong team. The game finished 0-0. A link was forged with the Belfast club that day which it is hoped will continue into the future. In addition to this Carn FC also continued the clubs proud tradition of progression to the latter stages of the FAI Junior Cup. Epic away journeys and victories in Dingle and Tramore lead to a quarter final appearance versus Dublin outfit, Ballymun AFC, at St Patricks Park. A great crowd attended, with plenty of Carn FC’s red and white on show. Despite a 0-2 defeat the club enjoyed one of the biggest and proudest days in its recent history.

Carn FC’s ladies team have also been very successful, entering a team in the senior Inishowen League for the first time in 2007, they emerged as champions in their debut season and repeating the feat in 2008 before reaching the last 16 of the FAI Intermediate Cup in 2009. The ladies team continue to compete despite losing key personnel in the last few years.
